The MO has been fishing pretty well as of recent. As for rivers, the Beaverhead and Missouri (below Holter) are consistently producing fish. Roberts Bait & Tackle, Great Falls. Dry-fly fishing is probably best from midmorning until midafternoon, as well as the final hour before dark. Tip your jigs with worm or maggot for increased success. The river is unlikely to clear up from here on out. Largemouth bass are excellent along deeper grass edges slowly dragging a Texas rig, or a weighted wacky rig on the grass. Support for tourism still remains strong in Montana, although frustration over crowding has grown, a University of Montana study found. Keep in mind they will not necessarily want to move too fast or too far to get a meal.
Baetis Nymphs, Zebra Midges, small Worms, and Sowbugs are working well. Most great reports of hopper fishing have been coming from the middle of Paradise Valley, but lower sections have been producing, too. Get real time data here:Yellowstone River Flows. North Fork Anglers, Cody. A good one. The hot spots are the Outhouse, Shannon, Yacht Basin and any bays on the north end. Hatches in the river are midge, baetis, March browns, caddis, and stoneflies. Zimmer Tackle, Pablo. LAS VEGAS ( KLAS) As of Wednesday morning, the surge of water released from the Glen Canyon Dam has reached Lake Mead. Sunshine. The shop is now open 9-5, Monday Friday. The water temperature is at 39 degrees. Fishing is allowed west of Newton Creek while the rest of the river is closed to protect spawning native Yellowstone cutthroats, rainbows, and cutbows. There isnt a lot going on for dry fly action around our area these days, but you might find some midges or a few scattered BWOs here and there on the tailwaters such as the Missouri and Madison. We may get a few days of caddis fishing in before runoff is here to stay. Evil Eye Flutter Spoons will also take lake trout. The lake closes to fishing from April 1 third Saturday in May. The catfish bite is doing well and a few ling have been caught. Sure.
We will postpone any minnows until fall.
